Sidebar Sections

Overview

Sidebar Sections let you organize your projects into named groups in the sidebar. Instead of scrolling through a flat list, you can create sections like "Client Work," "Active Sprints," or "Archive" — and control how each one sorts and displays.

Each section is personal to your account. Changes you make do not affect anyone else in the workspace.

Create a section

1. Scroll to the bottom of the sidebar.
2. Click + Add section. A new section appears with the name "New section" and a rename cursor active.
3. Type your section name and press Enter.

The section is created immediately and appears in the sidebar, ready to add projects to.

Rename a section

1. Hover over the section header. A ⋯ menu appears on the right.
2. Click ⋯, then select Rename.
3. Edit the name and press Enter, or press Escape to cancel.

Add projects to a section

Drag any project from elsewhere in the sidebar and drop it onto a section header or anywhere within an open section. The project appears in that section.

Tip: A project can exist in multiple sections at the same time. Adding it to one section does not remove it from another.

Remove a project from a section

Right-click a project inside a custom section to open the context menu. Select Remove from section. The project is removed from that section but remains accessible in the rest of your sidebar.

Move a project between sections

Right-click a project inside a custom section and select Move to section, then choose the destination section from the submenu. The project moves immediately.

Reorder sections

Drag a section header up or down to change its position in the sidebar. The reorder takes effect immediately and persists across sessions.

Reorder projects within a section

Hover over a project inside an open section — a grip handle appears on the left. Drag it up or down to reposition the project within that section.

Sort projects in a section

Right-click a section header to open the context menu. Hover over Sort by to expand the submenu.

Choose a field to sort by:

• Name — alphabetical order
• Recent — by last activity
• Priority — by project priority
• Status — by project status

Then choose a direction:

• Ascending
• Descending

The sort applies to that section immediately and persists across sessions.

Delete a section

1. Hover over the section header and click ⋯.
2. Select Delete.

Deleting a section removes the section and its configuration. The projects that were in it are not deleted — they remain accessible throughout the rest of your sidebar.

Troubleshooting

The "+ Add section" button does not appear. Sidebar Sections is in beta and only available to workspaces that have been granted access. If you do not see the button, your workspace may not have access yet.

My section order changed after a reload. Section order persists across sessions. If you notice an unexpected order, check whether another tab or device may have made a conflicting reorder.
