Account Settings

This guide walks you through your personal account settings — where to find them, what you can change, and how each option affects your Obvious experience.
Open Settings
Click your avatar in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar, then click Settings. You can also go directly to app.obvious.ai/settings.
The Settings page is split into two sections: Account (your personal preferences) and Workspace (shared settings managed by your team's admins). This article covers the Account side.
Personalization
Open Settings → Personalization to control how Obvious looks and behaves for you.
Here's what you can change:
Company and Role
Set your company name and role. Obvious uses these to tailor agent responses to your context — a VP of Sales gets different suggestions than a data engineer.
Custom Instructions
Write standing instructions that apply across every project and conversation. Think of this as a brief for the agent: your preferences, your working style, anything you want it to always keep in mind.
Memory
Toggle memory on or off. When enabled, Obvious remembers context across conversations — per project and globally. Turn it off if you'd prefer the agent to start fresh every time.
Theme
Choose Light, Dark, or System (matches your device). You can also enable High Contrast for stronger text and border visibility.
Chat Language
Pick the language Obvious responds in. Defaults to auto-detect, but you can set a specific language or type in one that isn't listed.
Message Color
Select a preset color for your chat messages, or pick a custom hex value. Purely cosmetic, entirely satisfying.
Default Mode
Set which agent mode new conversations start with. You can always switch modes mid-conversation — this just sets the default.
Send Shortcut
Toggle between pressing Enter to send (default) or Cmd/Ctrl+Enter to send. When the shortcut is enabled, Enter inserts a newline instead.
Advanced Cost Management
Turn this on to see credit usage per thread and project, detailed spend breakdowns, and task cost estimates. Useful if you're tracking consumption closely.
Security
Open Settings → Security to manage two-factor authentication.
- Click Enable two-factor authentication.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, etc.).
- Enter the verification code to confirm.
Once enabled, you'll see options to Regenerate backup codes or Disable 2FA. Both require your password.
Note: Two-factor authentication requires a password on your account. If you signed up with Google or another social provider, you'll need to set a password first.
Notifications
Open Settings → Notifications to manage how Obvious reaches you. Configure your contact methods and notification preferences from this page.
Invites
Open Settings → Invites to view your invite tokens and share Obvious with others. If you have an active token with remaining uses, you'll see a link you can copy and share. Need more invites? Click Request More Invites to submit a request to your workspace admin.
