Connect Zoom to Obvious
The Zoom integration lets you connect your Zoom account to Obvious so that meeting links are generated automatically when you schedule meetings. Once connected, a Zoom button appears in the Conferencing section of the create meeting modal — click it and Obvious creates a unique Zoom link for the event, no separate tab required. This guide covers how to connect, use, and disconnect the Zoom integration.
Before you start
You'll need a Zoom account to connect the integration.
Connect Zoom
-
Open Settings → Connectors.
-
Find Zoom in the list of available connectors and click Connect.
-
A Zoom authorization window opens. Follow the prompts to sign in and grant access.
-
Obvious returns you to the Connectors page. Zoom appears as Connected.
Note: Connectors are workspace-level. Once you connect Zoom, it's available to everyone in your workspace.
Use Zoom when creating a meeting
-
Open the project where you want to schedule a meeting and click + New Meeting (or open an existing calendar event).
-
In the create meeting modal, scroll to the Conferencing section.
-
Click Zoom. Obvious generates a Zoom meeting link and populates it in the event.
-
Finish filling in the meeting details and click Save. The Zoom link is included in the event for all attendees.
Tip: If you have both Google Meet and Zoom connected, both buttons appear. You can switch between them before saving — the link updates automatically.
Disconnect Zoom
-
Open Settings → Connectors.
-
Find Zoom in your connected integrations. It shows as Connected.
-
Click the options menu next to Zoom and select Disconnect.
-
In the confirmation dialog, click Disconnect to confirm.
Note: Disconnecting Zoom doesn't affect existing calendar events that already have Zoom links. Those meetings keep their links.
Fully remove Obvious from your Zoom account
Disconnecting Zoom from Obvious stops Obvious from creating new Zoom links, but doesn't revoke the app's authorization on your Zoom account. To fully remove access:
-
Sign in to your Zoom account at zoom.us.
-
Go to Zoom App Marketplace → Manage → Added Apps.
-
Find Obvious and click Remove.
This fully revokes Obvious's access to your Zoom account.
Troubleshooting
The Zoom button doesn't appear in the Conferencing section.
Zoom may not be connected for your workspace yet. Open Settings → Connectors and check whether Zoom shows as Connected. If it's not listed or shows as disconnected, follow the steps in "Connect Zoom" above.
I followed the prompts to grant access in Zoom but it returned an error.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration. Open Settings → Connectors, click the options menu next to Zoom, select Disconnect, then connect again.
The Zoom link in my event isn't working.
Zoom meeting links are generated at the time you save the event. If the link appears broken, open the event, remove the Zoom conferencing selection, re-select Zoom, and save again to generate a fresh link.
I disconnected Zoom — what happens to existing events?
Existing events keep their Zoom links. New meetings created after disconnecting won't have the Zoom option in the Conferencing section until you reconnect.
