Person & Rating Fields

Person fields assign workspace members to records. Rating fields score anything from 1 to 5. This guide covers both.
Person Fields
A person field assigns workspace members to a record. It stores their email and displays their name and avatar in the cell.
Adding a Person Field
Ask the agent: "Add a person field called Owner to the Deals sheet" or "Add a multi-select person field called Reviewers to the Tasks sheet."
To add one manually:
- Click + Add Field on any sheet, then select Person.
- By default, one person per cell. Enable Allow multiple people in field settings to assign several people to one record — useful for review committees or shared ownership.
Assigning People
Click a cell in the person column to open the member picker. Search by name or email, then select someone. In single-select mode, picking a new person replaces the current one. In multi-select, each pick adds to the list — click a name again to deselect. To clear a single-select field, open the picker and deselect the current person.
How It Looks
Each person appears as a colored avatar with their initials, or their profile photo if uploaded. Multiple assignees show overlapping avatars — up to three individually, then a +N badge for the rest.
What to Know
- Only active workspace members with email addresses appear in the picker.
- Person fields store emails internally — if someone's display name changes, the cell updates automatically.
- Guests are labeled so you can distinguish them from full members.
Rating Fields
A rating field displays five stars. Click to set a value from 1 to 5.
Adding a Rating Field
Ask the agent: "Add a 5-star rating field called Priority to the Projects sheet."
To add one manually:
- Click + Add Field, then select Rating. Every rating uses a 0-to-5 scale with no configuration needed.
Setting a Rating
Hover over a rating cell to preview stars highlighting under your cursor. Click to set the value. Filled stars appear in amber; empty outlines complete the row so the full scale is always visible.
Click the same star that's already selected to clear the rating back to zero. Press Delete to clear a selected cell.
Pasting a number works too. Values round to the nearest whole number and clamp to 0–5, so "3.7" becomes 4 stars and "12" becomes 5.
Troubleshooting
If a person field isn't showing the member you expect, confirm they're an active workspace member with an email address. If a rating field isn't accepting input, check that the cell isn't locked by a view filter or permission.
