Task Subscriptions

Subscribe to a task to get notified when it runs.
When you subscribe to a task, Obvious notifies you each time the task runs — so you stay informed without having to check manually. This is useful for tasks that run on a schedule or respond to events, where you want visibility into outcomes without being the task’s owner.
This feature is in beta. If you are interested in using task subscriptions feature, please send an email to help@obvious.ai.
What task subscriptions do
Subscribing to a task links your account to that task. When the task runs — whether triggered by a schedule, a webhook, or manually — you receive a notification with the result. You don’t need to own the task or have edit access to subscribe.
Each subscription is per-user. If you and a colleague both subscribe to the same task, you each receive separate notifications. Subscribing doesn’t change the task, affect its schedule, or notify other subscribers.
Subscribe to a task
-
Open the task you want to follow.
-
In the task detail panel, click the Subscribers field. A popover opens with a searchable list of workspace members. Click your name to add yourself — a checkmark appears next to your name to confirm you are subscribed.
Your Obvious assistant also appears as an option in the Subscribers picker. Subscribing your assistant keeps it notified of task activity.
To stop receiving notifications, open the same Subscribers popover and click your name again to deselect it.
Who can subscribe
To subscribe yourself or others to a task, you need to be the task creator, project owner, or project admin. View-only members cannot add or remove subscribers.
Notifications you’ll receive
When a subscribed task runs, Obvious sends you a notification in the dashboard. The notification includes the task name and outcome (completed or failed).
You won’t receive notifications for runs that are skipped but not yet started.
Tips
-
Subscribe to tasks that feed dashboards or trigger important workflows so you know immediately if something fails.
-
You can subscribe to tasks across projects you have access to, not just your current project.
-
Task owners receive run notifications automatically regardless of subscription status.
If you’re not receiving expected notifications, confirm that the task is active and that your notification settings are enabled in Settings → Notifications.
