Blueprints

Last updated July 1, 2026 · 3 min read

A Blueprint is an agent-built spec or structured document you can return to and keep refining — created through chat or generated automatically when Autobuild produces a spec. Describe what you want to define, or let Autobuild write the spec directly, and Obvious builds a Blueprint you can reopen, iterate on, and share with anyone using a public link.

What a Blueprint is

Unlike a plain document, a Blueprint is structured: the agent organizes your content into named sections, adds an outline, and fills in metadata like domain, scope, status, and date. You describe what you want at a high level and the agent handles the structure — figuring out the right sections, writing the content, and formatting it as a spec or brief. You review the result, ask for changes, and come back over time. Each edit updates the same Blueprint in place rather than creating a new copy.

Opening Blueprints from the sidebar gives you one place to create new work and pick up where you left off. Every Blueprint you've created or have access to appears as a card — select any one to reopen it in its project.

When Autobuild produces a spec, the result is a Blueprint artifact — structured and revisable, built for reviewing scope, flows, and decisions before implementation starts. You work with it exactly like any Blueprint you create directly.

Create a Blueprint

  1. In the left sidebar, select Blueprints.

  2. In the text field, describe what you want the Blueprint to define. Include the important flow, inputs, decisions, states, or interactions you need. The more specific you are, the better the structure the agent produces.

  3. Submit your description. Obvious creates the Blueprint and opens it in its own project while the agent builds the first version.

  4. To refine the Blueprint, reopen its linked thread and describe the change you want. The agent updates the same Blueprint rather than creating a new copy.

Return to an existing Blueprint

Select Blueprints from the sidebar. Every Blueprint you created or can access appears as a card — select one to reopen it in its project, then continue the thread to make changes.

Share a Blueprint

You can share a Blueprint with anyone using a link — the recipient does not need an Obvious account to view it.

  1. Open the Blueprint.

  2. Select Share from the header.

  3. In the Share panel, turn on Share via link.

  4. Copy the link and share it directly.

Troubleshooting

A shared link is not working.

Confirm the link was copied in full. If you shared the Blueprint before the June 18, 2026 update, regenerate the share link.

If you continue to have trouble, contact Obvious Support.
